What are the manfacturing phases of engagement rings?

This process requires advanced technology, experience and understanding of a number of professionals. As in many other fields, in the world of jewelry many products start their way in the mind of the designer. Today, 3D imaging software allows designers to express their vision, and reach maximum levels of accuracy. So too the engagement ring begins as a drawing in the design software on the computer, this computer simulation has replaced the manual drawing which was customary before.

The same models of engagement rings that are currently in the computerized sketch mode advance a step in the manufacturing process, and move to the silicon molds stage.
Using these molds is one of the oldest production methods for producing gold rings, in this method the designer duplicates the model of the engagement ring into a silicone mold. Imagine a sandwich of two silicone cubes that contain an empty and precise cavity in the shape of the model, which includes all the elements of the engagement ring (diamond inlay brackets, moldings, etc.).

Wax injection stage

Once we have created the shape of the ring inside the silicone mold, a hot wax is injected into the stencil using a special device.
The wax is injected under great pressure and fills the entire stencil well with the silicone mold. After opening the silicone cubes we get for the first time a physical model of the engagement ring which is made of a special wax which evaporates at high heat.

Gypsum casting stage

After we have created many models of wax engagement rings, we dress them on a metal cone and create from nothing wood filled with models of wax rings.
On the same “tree” full of models a special cylinder is worn which surrounds the models. Into this cylinder is poured a special gypsum-like material which fits well into all and uniformly to all models. With the help of a pump that sucks all the air from the gypsum mold under great pressure, bubbles are formed which will affect the continuation of the work, and will cause the cleaning rings to look unclean.

Place in the oven and dissolve the wax

After we have cast gypsum into a roll and it covers the wax models well, put the gypsum in the oven. During the heating process, two things happen, the wax evaporates and creates an accurate stencil of the engagement ring inside the plaster, and the drying of the plaster which will allow gold to melt into it in a good way.

The gold casting stage

After receiving stencils of engagement rings, we move on to the gold casting stage. The jeweler melts gold at a very high temperature inside a furnace operating in a centrifuge, and pours gold into the gypsum molds. This process takes several hours and is done by professionals in the foundry. After cooling the molds filled with gold the engagement rings can be released from the casting.

Once the engagement rings are removed from the cast, they are rough and lackluster, on which more gold grids can be found. So at this point the engagement rings go through a series of polishes in order to give them a smooth and symmetrical look. The rings go through a series of different sandings and only after the sander has finished cleaning and polishing does it move on to the inlay stage.

Diamond inlay

The process of inlaying the diamonds in the engagement rings requires an accurate craftsman of the inlay. This is hard work that requires high concentration and a high level of accuracy
In order to prevent the diamonds from falling in the future the slot must aim well and arrange the delicate diamond mounts.
